The novel unfolds in a dream of the protagonist, Robert Langdon, a professor of religious iconology and art history at Harvard University. A call and subsequently a fax sent by Maximillian Kohler, a discrete particle physicist shakes him up from the sweet embrace of sleep. Murder of a great scientist, Mr. Leonardo Vetra at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland unravels the mysterious resurfacing of the ILLUMINATIS, an ancient brotherhood.
Langdon, being an expert of religious iconology, is asked for help to solve the murder mystery. The murder victim, Mr. Leonardo Vetra was not only the world's leading physicists but a catholic priest too. His adopted daughter, Vittoria is also working at CERN. Vetra and his daughter used the world's largest particle accelerator to create antimatter, to simulate the Big Bang. Once the antimatter canister is removed from the electrical system, the batteries prevent the collision of matter and antimatter for only 24 hours after which an instantaneous explosion of unprecedented power would occur.

Will Langdon and Vittoria be able to recover the canister? Will the cardinals be safe? Or the axe of death, dangling over their heads fall down in unfortunate circumstances? These questions might pop up in your mind while reading this book.
With each chapter Vittoria and Langdon are led to different churches, fountains, crypts, forgotten passages and burried secrets. Death follows them at every turn in one form or the other. Angels and Demons is surely a fast paced page turner which will keep you glued to it until you get the answer to every mysterious question aroused in your mind while reading it. The twists will amaze you, making your heart race and your hand automatically reach to your mouth. The end of the novel is something unpredictable. Its definitely a one time read.
