Review: Safe Haven

Author - Nicholas Sparks
Genre - Romance
No. of Pages - 432
Year of Publication - 2011
Rating - ❤️❤️❤️
After reading The Notebook, I had high expectations from any other Sparks' book. I wouldn't say that I didn't like this book. All in all it was an okay read. I liked Erin's character a lot. She is portrayed as an independent and brave woman and yes, intelligent too. Alex is a decent character who showcases the idealistic image of a single father who loves and cares for his children more than anything else in the world. And lastly, Kevin, who would like him when he is the self proclaimed villain? I guess no one.

Erin moves to Southport, North Carolina after fleeing from her husband, Kevin's house. Erin fell in love with Kevin and they got married but just after a few years of marriage, Erin discovered how obsessed he is with himself and how he wants total control over her moves and her life.

She felt suffocated in his house. She wasn't even allowed to go anywhere without his permission. Finally, she decided to run away. But she is clever and thus, devised a full proof escape plan when Kevin went away for work. She is no more Erin, now she is Katie.

Her look is changed and so is her life. She struggles to fight the waves of sorrow and anguish which wash over her frequently because of her past and she is determined to make her life better. She lives in a small cottage with a single cottage in her neighbor where a woman named Jo lives and they soon become friends and she is pretty much the only friend Erin has until she meets Alex, a widower with two children.
Alex is a common man but his love and affection for his children and the way he empathizes with Erin is what makes him stand out. Erin and Alex eventually fall in love but Kevin is not a person who will give up and even the smartest planners leave behind traces. Kevin manages to find out Erin's location and then everyone is in trouble.

The ending of this book is what I loved the most. Besides being a happy ending, a huge surprise is waiting there. I literally had my mouth open for a few seconds when I realized what had just happened. That's the thing about Sparks' novels. The endings are amazing and they give you some kind of solace.

Review: The Notebook

Author - Nicholas Sparks Genre - Romance No. of Pages - 224 Year of Publication - 1996 Rating - ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 'Noah and Allie'. I consider them the modern Romeo and Juliet. This was my first Sparks' novel and I literally fell in love with his writing after reading it. Characters, setup, plot, expression, I give this novel ten on ten for everything. I don't like reading ebooks personally but I had heard so much about this book that I couldn't wait to buy a paperback and downloaded the ebook. This book is a pure romantic fiction but it is not boring at all. The author has portrayed the characters of Noah and Allie so beautifully that you will certainly fall in love with them. The book opens with an old man giving his introduction while he heads towards a room. A room where he has been going for three years just to narrate the same story to a woman suffering from Alzheimer . The story he reads from his notebook is about Noah and Allie.  They meet each other whe...

Review: Before I Go To Sleep

(Contains Spoilers) Author - SJ Watson Genre - Thriller No. of Pages - 368 Year of Publication - 2011 Rating - ❤️❤️❤️(3.5) I admit, this book had me guessing till the end. And the ending wasn't something that I saw coming.  I found this book far more thrilling than 'The Girl On The Train' which was somehow predictable for me. In the beginning, I didn't have even a speck of hint or clue about the climax. That's the thing that kept me glued to this book and I read it by spending my one whole day. I won't say it was a "proper page turner". I had some difficulty in reading the starting one-third part of it because it wasn't much appealing and things were repetitive. But it took a pace after around half of it was read. And the climax was excellent. The book revolves around a woman named Christine Lucas who is suffering from amnesia. She is living from moment to moment without having any idea about her past or future. Her case of amnesia is ...
